Three quick calculations: a percent of a number, what percent one number is of another, and the change between two numbers.

What is X% of Y?

Enter both numbers.

X is what percent of Y?

Enter both numbers.

Percentage change from X to Y

Enter both numbers.

How the formulas work

  • X% of Y = Y × X ÷ 100
  • X is what percent of Y = X ÷ Y × 100
  • Percentage change = (new − old) ÷ old × 100

Answers are rounded to 2 decimal places. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.

Quick questions

How do I calculate a percentage of a number?

Multiply the number by the percentage and divide by 100. For example, 20% of 150 is 150 × 20 ÷ 100 = 30.

How do I find what percent one number is of another?

Divide the first number by the second and multiply by 100. For example, 45 out of 60 is 45 ÷ 60 × 100 = 75%.

How do I work out a percentage increase or decrease?

Subtract the old value from the new one, divide by the old value, and multiply by 100. A positive answer is an increase and a negative one is a decrease.

Divide your total marks obtained by the total marks, then multiply by 100. The marks percentage calculator does this for several subjects at once.
