How the test works
- Pick 1, 2, 3 or 5 minutes. A new text is chosen each time.
- The clock starts at your first key. Green letters are right and red letters are wrong. Fix a mistake with Backspace.
- Speed counts the words you typed correctly, per minute. Accuracy is the share of your characters that match.
- With Phonetic typing on, English keys type Urdu letters. Turn it off to use your own Urdu keyboard.
- Pasting is switched off, so the result is your own typing.

How is Urdu typing speed calculated?
Speed is the number of correctly typed words per minute. A word counts as correct when it matches the text exactly. Accuracy is the share of characters you typed that match the text.
How do I type Urdu with an English keyboard?
Keep Phonetic typing on. Each English key types one Urdu letter, and Shift gives the other letters. The Urdu typing page has the full key chart and an on-screen keyboard.
Can I use my phone’s Urdu keyboard?
Yes. Turn Phonetic typing off and type with your own Urdu keyboard.
Can I paste text into the test?
No. Pasting is switched off, because the test measures your own typing.
